World Cup Bracket 2026 ("we," "our," or "the app") is a free sports prediction game available at sportsbrackets.app. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

• Account information— your email address, username, and password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text).
• Bracket picks— your group stage predictions, wildcard selections, and knockout bracket choices.
• League data— leagues you create or join and your leaderboard position within them.
• Email preferences— your opt-in or opt-out choices for score updates, reminders, and league invites.
• Usage data— basic analytics such as page views and bracket view counts. We do not track you across other websites.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Run the app — authenticate your account, save your predictions, and calculate scores.
• Show leaderboards — display usernames and scores within leagues you belong to.
• Send emails — only if you have opted in. This includes score updates, bracket reminders, and league invitations. You can opt out at any time from your dashboard.
• Improve the app — understand how the app is used so we can make it better.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase(supabase.com) — database hosting and user authentication. Your account data and bracket picks are stored in Supabase.
• Vercel(vercel.com) — web hosting and deployment. Vercel serves the app and may collect basic server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps).
• Resend(resend.com) — transactional email delivery. Used only to send emails you have opted into.
• football-data.org— live match results and standings. This service provides tournament data only; no user data is shared with them.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies only to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party cookies for analytics. No cookie consent is needed beyond the essential login cookies, but we provide a consent banner for transparency.

5. Data Sharing

We never sell your data. Your personal information is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes. The only data visible to other users is your username and bracket scores within leagues you have joined.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will permanently remove your account, bracket picks, league memberships, and all associated data within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Opt out of non-essential emails at any time from your dashboard.
• Export your bracket data.

8. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
